Events

– 11 murders were investigated, 5 of which believed to be associated with Jack the Ripper

– Whitechapel, Spitafield and Aldgate

– a poverty stricken area which was overpopulated

– A violent area with street brawls were overlooked for Jack the Ripper

– The press fed a public fascination

– Voluntary confessions were inconceivable

Response

I feel it is not necessary to dive too far into the case surrounding Jack the Ripper because there has been a lot of conspiracy videos and closed cases which have tried to identify the Ripper, all of which don’t indirectly help my thought processes for the development of this project.

In order to create a solution to meet the brief, we just need to use typography as a semiotic resource and use it to visually communicate the subject of our project. Therefore the information we need will come from primary research surveys and asking people what it is they remember about Jack the Ripper, so then me and my partner can understand what themes are most popular and easily associated with the mysterious character.
